Important: InternPick is a technology platform and listing service — similar to how a real-estate marketplace connects buyers and sellers. We facilitate discovery, communication, and paperwork between schools, students, and host employers. We are not a school, employer, placement agency, insurer, broker, or guarantor of any outcome. All parties use the site at their own risk.

1. Overview

InternPick respects the privacy of schools, students, educators, and host organizations. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

InternPick is a technology platform and listing service — similar to how a real-estate marketplace connects buyers and sellers. We facilitate discovery, communication, and paperwork between schools, students, and host employers. We are not a school, employer, placement agency, insurer, broker, or guarantor of any outcome. All parties use the site at their own risk.

While we implement safeguards described below, no system is perfectly secure. Schools remain responsible for their own FERPA programs and lawful bases for sharing student information.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email, role, school affiliation, title, phone, and authentication identifiers.
  • School & program data: profiles, internship listings, policies, compliance settings, signatures, and uploaded documents you choose to provide.
  • Usage data: logs, device/browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and diagnostic events needed to operate and secure the Service.
  • Communications: messages you send to support and in-product notices you receive.
  • Cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Authenticate users and enforce account permissions (including school account ownership).
  • Display listings and school profiles to other users as you configure visibility settings.
  • Support schools in coordinating work-based learning workflows you enable.
  • Detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests.
  • Send service-related notices (you may opt out of non-essential marketing where applicable).

4. Schools, students & FERPA

When a school uploads or manages student-related information, the school is responsible for providing appropriate notice and obtaining required consents under FERPA, state student-privacy laws, and district policy.

InternPick processes that information on the school’s direction to provide the Service — as a service provider or school official under the school’s FERPA program, depending on how the district structures its agreements.

InternPick does not sell personal information. We do not sell, rent, or license personal information for monetary consideration, and we do not use student data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect data (see Section 8). Schools should only enter information necessary for their programs and configure access appropriately.

5. When we share information

  • With other users according to your settings and program visibility (e.g., public school profiles, internship listings).
  • With service providers who help us host, store, email, analyze reliability, or secure the Service — under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the platform.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to continued protection consistent with this Policy.
  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not share personal information with third parties for their independent marketing without your direction or consent, except as described above.

6. Data retention

We retain information while accounts are active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

School account owners may delete their school account in Settings → Profile, which removes associated school data from InternPick as described in-product. Backups may persist for a limited period before deletion.

7. Your choices & rights

  • Access and update account information in Settings.
  • Request deletion of a school account (account owner) or contact us about individual requests.
  • Manage non-essential cookies on our Cookie Management page.
  • Depending on your location, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, opt-out of certain processing). California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA — contact us to exercise them.

8. Security — our best efforts

We use industry-standard practices appropriate to the nature of the data, which may include encryption in transit, access controls, authenticated access to production systems, and monitoring for abuse.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk and should maintain strong passwords and limit who has admin access at your school.

9. Children & student accounts

The Service is directed to schools and authorized educators coordinating student programs. Student-facing features are deployed under school supervision consistent with applicable law and district policy.

InternPick does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without appropriate school authorization and any required parental consent.

If you believe we collected information from a child without appropriate authorization, contact us at privacy@internpick.com.

10. U.S. operations

InternPick is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from other regions, you understand that information may be processed in the U.S. where laws may differ from your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acknowledgment of the updated Policy.

Audience review

Role-specific provisions

The sections below summarize how this document applies to educators, students, and host employers. District counsel may review each block independently.

Educators — schools & staff

Schools control what student and program data is entered and who can view it through role permissions.

InternPick processes student information as a service provider at the school’s direction — similar to other district-selected ed-tech tools.

  • You are responsible for FERPA notices, consents, and directory information policies before uploading student data.
  • Configure retention settings under Settings → Legal and delete the school account when the district no longer uses InternPick.
  • We do not sell personal information collected through the Service.
  • Contact privacy@internpick.com for data subject requests we can fulfill as processor; direct student record requests to your school.

Students & guardians

Student profiles, applications, hours, and messages are visible to school staff and host contacts according to program settings the school configures.

  • Your school decides what information is required and who may view placement details.
  • InternPick uses student data only to operate features your school enables — not for advertising or sale.
  • Guardians completing parent consent forms should review the linked Privacy Policy before signing.
  • Questions about grades, credit, or participation should go to your school coordinator.

Host employers

Hosts see student information the school chooses to share for applications, placements, and messaging — not the entire student record unless the school configures broader access.

  • Use student information only for legitimate placement coordination; do not repurpose it for unrelated marketing.
  • Business profile and listing data may appear on public program pages according to visibility settings.
  • Contact hello@internpick.com for account or data questions related to your host or business workspace.

Where InternPick collects acceptance

The table below maps each onboarding and invite flow to the legal documents presented and how acceptance is recorded. Schools may share this section with district counsel when reviewing InternPick alongside local WBL policies.

School-authored terms (student or host) are optional, configured by each school under Settings → Legal, and are separate from InternPick’s platform documents.

  • [Educators] New school account (account owner) (/onboarding/platform-agreement): Platform Facilitator Agreement, InternPick Terms v1.1, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use — Scroll through terms, draw digital signature; acceptance stored on school record with timestamp and policy version.
  • [Educators] Join existing school (invited staff/admin) (/accept-invite): InternPick Terms v1.1, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy — Checkbox acknowledgment before completing invite; no separate signature required for staff.
  • [Educators] Join existing school (short onboarding path) (/onboarding/platform-agreement): Platform Facilitator Agreement, InternPick Terms v1.1 — Digital signature on platform agreement step when joining via school invite without creating a new school.
  • [Hosts] Host invited by a school (/accept-invite): InternPick Terms v1.1; optional school host terms if enabled by the school — Checkbox for InternPick terms; scroll-to-end + checkbox for optional school host terms.
  • [Hosts] Register company workspace (business account) (/business/setup): Platform Facilitator Agreement, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy — Checkbox acknowledgment before creating the business account.
  • [Students] Student school invite (/join/[invite-token]): InternPick student terms (includes platform terms); optional school student terms if enabled — Scroll through full terms, then checkbox; optional second scroll + checkbox for school terms.
  • [Guardians] Parent/guardian program consent (/parent-consent): Program consent scope, e-sign disclosure, Privacy Policy — Guardian completes consent form; school remains responsible for required authorizations.
  • [All users] Public site use (no account) (/terms · /privacy · /cookies): Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy — Using the public site constitutes agreement to posted Terms and acknowledgment of the Privacy Policy.

This page is provided for transparency and does not constitute legal advice. InternPick recommends that schools, hosts, and districts have qualified counsel review these documents alongside local board policy, FERPA programs, and work-based learning requirements before relying on them.
